The pastel sketches are from a series of commissioned self portraits. I created new narratives by using the white walls as canvas to hang the framed pastel drawings. The pastel sketches are like a breath of air and the slight white glitter reminds me of snow. This light subtle quality of colour is lost in its digital translation. Using a small hand mirror, I looked past rather than into myself.

The pastel drawings represent the beginning of my exhibition project ‘Belonging’. They are tracing my steps in Kata Tjuta (Northen Territory, Australia) where I have walked. With these drawings I am paying my respect to the Anangu People and to Country. I am trying to convey a sense of travelling through and connecting to this landscape, with an array of static and transforming fragments using the vibrant colours of the Country.

The graphite drawings are the complete ‘Jagd’ series. In these I am following a group of hunters through a winter landscape. They are inspired by photos taken by a friend in Marchtrenk (Upper Austria).

The drawings are in part sketches developing compositions for paintings, spatial studies, and fragments of film stills. I interpreted films in a series of black and white ink drawings, defining the space, props, and interactions between actors, exploring different genres and the way scenes were developed.
